Working on the side as a Landscape Designer is a great way to earn extra cash as your schedule allows. If you love plants and helping people, this type of work can be a no-brainer. In this role you also get to showcase your creativity in ways that enhance peoples' lives as well as the environment. Not to mention the physical and mental benefits of working outside some of the time.

Landscape Designer hourly rates will vary depending on geographic location. In my experience, Landscape Designers can charge $50-$200 per hour depending on level of experience.

Well, the more the better - and even the most experienced Landscape Designers are still learning. So if you're a beginner, take heart - there are SO MANY ways to learn about plants. Here are hands-on ways that may be easy to access in your area: visiting Plant Nurseries, going on Guided Nature Walks, and going on Garden Tours. And some less hands-on resources: Your US State's Cooperative Extension Service website, Books and Magazines, Google searching 'plants that grow well in my area', and of course, searching YouTube.

Landscape Designers come from all walks of life. Some have special degrees but many don't. Some start earlier in life, and some start later. Being "good" at designing landscapes is about solving problems in creative ways that help people and help the environment. As a Landscape Designer, you use both sides of your brain to think artistically, scientifically and mathematically.
